The maritime equipment is reduced to the bare minimum.  Each one can adapt it according to its program and to the places of navigation Sea waters: all pleasure crafts (except canoes, kayaks and windsurfing boats)
Rescue equipment:

1. one life vest/jacket per person on board, one lifebuoy with light in case of nights operating, effective distress signals to include flares
2. nautical instruments: magnetic compass, navigation lights, boat horn and  manual depth sounder
3. armament equipment: anchor, hammer, boat hook, bilge pump or bailer, sufficient number of oars with oarlocks, minimum of 20 m of rope for usual operations, waterproof electrical torch allowing to give light signals, fire extinguisher (for motorboats), complete sails kit (for sailboats)
4. First Aid kit : waterproof box with necessary bandages and other usual pharmaceutical products

Although it is recommended for your safety, a life raft is not required under Belgian flag when operating a boat in any type of navigation (high sea or other). We recommend the range SEA SAFE for which the stations of revisions are represented well by most parts of the world.  A French review (Voiles et Voiliers / January 2008 edition - #443) ranks this manufacturer as #1.
